[Smakebit på søndag – Wizard and Glass]

«Yeah,» he said, sighing. «Silence, a thing I know little about. Thankee-sai, Blaine, you speak truth.»

«I HOPE YOU HAVE DISCOVERED SOMETHING WHICH WILL HELP YOU,» Blaine said, and Eddie thought: You fucking mechanical liar. The complacent tone had returned to Blaine’s voice, and Eddie found it of some passing interest that a machine could express such a range of emotion. Had the Great Old Ones built them in, or had Blaine created an emotional rainbow for himself at some point? A little dipolar pretty with which to pass the long decades and centuries? «DO YOU WISH ME TO GO AWAY AGAIN SO YOU MAY CONSULT?»

«Yes,» Roland said.

«Januar er som en måned med mandager.» (Sitat, Phillip Schofield.)

«January is like a month of Mondays.» (Quote, Phillip Schofield.)

This month has been quite ordinary, but luckily with a few exceptions! At the beginning of the month, I attended an audition and Christmas party with the Hverdagsdøv gang. The former was fun, and the latter was very koselig! We dined at a restaurant (for dessert, I had meringue with a berry sauce, which was so good I almost fell off my chair!) and afterwards, we sat at Litteraturhuset for hours.

The week after, I met with an actress and a scenographer about a project that hopefully will be realised in 2020. The application for funding will be sent soon, and then we’ll have to cross our fingers! Saturday and Sunday this week I also had a puzzle game at my place. When I started doing a 3000 pieces puzzle before NYE, I soon realised I lack the patience to finish it by myself. Thanks to Veronica, Siv, Pernille, Mille, Lubna, Ragna and Merete for helping finishing half of the puzzle.

The puzzle was finished the third week of January, and at last, my knees and back stopped hurting so much from sitting on the floor glaring at one blue piece after the other. The same day the last piece was in place, I paid a quick visit to Sarpsborg where the Norwegian Association of the Disabled Youth and Queer Youth were having a seminar for young people who identify as queer. I was participating in a panel talk. It was a pleasant day with both old and new friends.

The next week I hung out a lot at OsloMet as an «actress» and/or substitute teacher. I had the luck of going to the Cultural Museum with the other «actors» and the students, which is always awesome, especially since I got the chance to greet the mummies at the museum. We finished early, so I took the underground to Bekkestua where I ate «sørlandsbolle» (chocolate-covered bun with vanilla custard filling) for the first (and last!) time. Then I spent a few hours at the library before visiting my father. He made a vegan meal for dinner which tasted both tasty and was filling.

A few other exciting things that also happened before January passed was that I received surprising news which might lead to a long trip for summer and that I was in another meeting about an intriguing project that hopefully can start as soon as I’ve thought it over. I also attended the launching of the book «Døden nær» («Near death/Close to death») at Litteraturhuset. A round of applause for the sign language interpreters, who managed to keep it together while looking at a teary audience.
